WEDDING TIPS

1. The Entertainment

Music is at the heart of every wedding celebration; the romantic moments during your ceremony, the sophisticated ambience throughout your reception dinner and the dance party at the end of the evening. Your entertainment is what your guests will be talking about at the end of the night (good or bad). Whether it is GHE or another supplier please invest in a talented, professional entertainer who understands how weddings work, and will provide the magic of 'the right music at the right time'. Give your guests, and yourselves, a night to remember!

2. The Venue

Southeast Queensland has so many amazing wedding reception venues to choose from. CLICK HERE for a list of recommended venues. If dancing is a priority for you then please check with any potential venue to see if they have volume (db) restrictions before you book. While many excellent wedding venues have db restrictions that will be no problem for you, some have severe restrictions which may prevent you from having the dance party that you had hoped for. If you need any more information about this please do not hesitate to give me a call.

3. Seating Arrangements

Graham is always very conscious of noise levels when performing at a wedding reception. That said it is always a good idea to have the guests who are most likely to want to dance at tables close to the band and those who will not want the music too loud as far away from the band as possible.

4. The Bridal Waltz

The bridal waltz is the point of the evening where you transition from a formal dining experience to the dance party. When possible try to have all of your sit-down meals and speeches finished prior to the start of the bridal waltz. For example once the party has started on the dancefloor you don't want everyone to sit down after 10 mins because dessert has been served.

5. Finding Wedding Suppliers

My advice is to always speak with your wedding suppliers before you book them to see if they are right for YOU. This is especially important for wedding planners, celebrants, photographers, vidiographers, music providers etc. who you will be with you on your wedding day. A photographer who you makes you feel comfortable and relaxed will result in photos that are more natural - a great celebrant will help to ease any nerves before your ceremony - a great musician will tailor a music plan to include your favourite songs and use their expertise to also keep your guests (of all ages) happy (and on the dancefloor!) - a great wedding planner will make the whole planning process and the day itself less stressful and more enjoyable.

  • 6. Preparation

    1. Email a run sheet for your ceremony and reception to the MC, Band, Wedding Venue Co-ordinator, Photographer etc. If things are running behind or ahead of schedule, everybody will be working off the same plan and can adjust accordingly to get things back on track.

    2. Provide an emergency contact for your wedding day to your wedding suppliers. Make sure it is someone who will be with you and have their mobile phone turned on (eg. a parent, sibbling, brial party member)in case one of your suppliers needs to reach you on the day (especially the morning of the wedding).

    3. Allow a little more time for your speeches than you think...they have a way of getting away from you on the night!

    7. Your Wedding Day

You have spent months planning every little detail of your wedding right down to the colour of the ribbon on your napkins. The hard part is over, so now it is time to focus on what is really important and enjoy your special day! Little things are bound to turn out differently to how you have planned but you have chosen great wedding suppliers so let them take care of things. Put all of your energy into celebrating with your partner, your family and your closest friends...you deserve it!
